Sorry to revive an old thread but I want to remove / bypass my ac pump and put a smaller belt on.

Without using any brackets to move the alternator, it looks like it can be done by just removing the lower eccentric pulley. Is there any problem found it this way?

Car is hdi 110 1999 v reg dw10ated

On mine I just used an old belt, cut it to size and took it to a parts shop and asked for a belt the same size. The belt I have is one rib less than standard but does the job. On my 205 I got rid of the PAS too :) As long as the alternator has good belt coverage you should be ok.
