Ive got an XUD sitting out of a 305 van ready to go in, but its a non turbo as the 305 was never offered with a turbo, a 306 d turbo engine would work but it would be easier to get a DW10 in good condition than an XUD in good condition, i still have a DW10 engine, gearbox, subframe, steering etc and a load of other bits already sitting in the shed, just no electrical parts as they were sold.

we had a pug 8 seater taxi in the yard last year icarnt rember the name off the thing
but it was a 07 reg ..under the bonnet was a hdi..
the clocks where from a 405.. so basicly it was built with bits peugeot got out the heap

if you got the loom out of one of these things then a hdi wouid plug straight in there no bsi or other bullshit to worry about..then

idont know the name of the thing but its built out of junk like a black cab..

jasper5 might know what it is..

iirc my mate still has this heap somewhere..the engine blew up..iwill get some pics if hes still got it.

Ill keep my eye out for a full 406, it would work out cheaper and easier to strip one apart and have all the parts needed sitting there, aswell as being able to label the wiring loom as it comes out of the car.
Looking at the car in the video it seems to have inherited the 406 (or 306es) central locking system, immobiliser and trip computer, the immobiliser would be a big advantage in a 305 to make it less easy to steal, the BSI wouldnt really be an issue, it could still be installed into the 305 but with a lot of the plugs disconnected, and unnecessary wiring cut back, the airbags would be one such example.

Thats a J7, there seems to be a few of them doing the rounds any taxi drivers with them seem to be quite happy with them.

This would be the sort of thing worth waiting on:

copart dont have any 406s at the moment in NI but they do pop up now and then and they dont get a huge amount of interest in them so they sell cheap.

A 306HDi would be your best bet for a doner car. At lease you wont have a BSI to try and keep happy then!

From what the dutchman said in the video i heard 306 mentioned which must have been the donor car, but the 305 has an intercooler installed and a 406 mfd.
did the 306 get a 110 or the bosch ecu?

Fairly sure the 306 only ever had the HDi 90, but the later shape Cistern Xsara came in 90 & 110 flavours.

I don't think it matters really. If you get a HDi90 then you won't have to worry about a DMF!
Also if you get hold of HDiTuning they will sort you out with a 130bhp map easy enough. If you fit an intercooler then they do a 145bhp 'limited torque' map. If you want a full stage two then you'd have to look at upgrading the clutch.

The 305 would fly with 130bhp, they have quite a low weight do they not?

I consider my 406 to be quick enough, its much heavier than a 305, I'm not sure how much they weigh but when the shell fell off the axle stands it was possible to lift it back up onto them.
