"Hello, Farmerpug speaking how can I help?"

I've found a little light restoration project for you, are you up for that?

"yeah, what sort of car is it?"

It's just a Mini that's all.

"well that shouldn't be too much work, they're only small so they are"

That's what I thought too and I know you like cutting grinding and welding stuff so it should be perfect.

"When can I see it?"

Now! :arrowd:

On a more serious note though i would be a bit worried about buying a car like this with so many previous owners, servicing may have been neglected, it looks like the tracking might be off on the front wheels they look a bit worn.

That is about the going rate, at least in that area. My brother in law sold one exactly the same on an 08 plate with slightly higher mileage on an eBay auction and that is what it went for to the pound.

The 407 engine bay looks like there's plenty* of room to work on stuff :frown:

Seems then the 407 is a bit of a bargain ATM, I wonder how much nice low-mile 2.2 pezzer's go for?.......

I love my 2.2; it's always seemed to me to have reasonable power, right from down low. There might have been something up with the one you tried. That said, it's not a turbo, and it's not a diesel, so the power delivery is completely different to the HDi engines. The only turbo I've ever driven was a Mini One, which was a diesel. The only other diesel I've driven was a naturally aspirated 1.9 Corsa, fecking years ago, and it was utterly dire.

160 HP and 158 ft/lbs of torque isn't too shabby. The 1.8 petrol 406 saloon I had previously was positively athsmatic by comparison!

I wonder what a turbocharged 2.2 would have been like... but then I also know I'd never be able to afford to turbocharge mine, and I'd never be able to do the job properly myself without breaking it!

I always understood the 2.2 pez was pretty swift with good torque from low-down. Reason I mentioned the pez version was that you'd generally find a nicer example with fewer miles than the dizzlers and for better money too.
