CAR WILL NOT START

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

CAR WILL NOT START

Post by ROBERTCEE »

hi after disconnecting the battery to replace a faulty injector seal , now i regret doing this as i think it could be done without , the car will not start . I disconnected the battery doing that 5 min thing with the correct procedure Now it shows the little square key warning light and the dash says emmobilizer fault .I have both keys but the remote does not work and also the credit card sized security card. Any help would be great Thanks

The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago and unfortunately I had to get an auto electrician out with pp2000 diagnostics to reprogramme the key to the car. :( It might be worth saying where you are in the country as there might be a member of the forum close by with pp2000 that might be able to help.

I find the BSI reset confusing,

old instructions on the web & in psa/citroen books is saying '5 minutes or so,
Now according too there newer instructions, there listing it as '15 minutes,

So for anyone doing a BSI reset or going off the 5 min rule as per instructions off the web or data books,
id certainly leave it longer than 5 mins,.

Who ever invented the Bsi needs -wiring to the mains/240v :frown:

Suspect you'll have to settle for 220V, unless you 'rendition' him over here.......

Check the fuses in the engine bay. I managed to blow one of mine as a result of a burnt out fan relay. Presented in just the same way.

Thankyou for your replies just a thought when reading the haynes manual about the immobilizer it says there is a keypad under the drivers facia ? which i presume you can key in that code on the confidential card does anyone know about that ? I have had a look in the drop down fuse bay but cannot see anything

keypads were only on the very early 406 before transponder immobilisers were introduced. The code on the card is what you need to access the BSI to program a new key with PP2000
