sorry not 406 related,.
Hi all,
any ideas on how to remove the ign-barrel on a peugeot 206?
Before anyone thinks im stealing it -im not.
it was My 'Bro's car and hes no longer around, ive got the doc's for the car but..keys are not to be found,
at first iwas just going to send it to the scrapyard but after seeing it.. it wouid be just senseless to have it crushed or broken up for parts"
its totaly minted,
ive just got to work out how to get in it with out doing to much damage,
i presume iwouid have to swap out ecu-lock and bsi,
ideas ?
thanks inadvance.

Or take the docs to pug, explain the situation and see if they can do new keys for you. If you do decide to go with the break in route and choose to pop a window, do the nsf as these are cheapest to replace (most car break ins are done via this window and consequently they can be as little as half the cost of the drivers side) and if the car's deadlocked you'll at least be able to climb in.

Locally, we have a selection of good locksmiths who will come out and sort it for around £50. Unfortunately, that does not include the cost of the key. Not necessarily the cheapest option, but probably the least hassle.

Thanks all,
iwill see if R.A.C will help.
my mate as got a flat bed tow truck but the handbrake is on,so that option might be out,
someone said to me contact the last keeper and see if theyve still got a spare key or key code..carnt do that either.
here is some old picture snips of the pug..some people here might recognise it.

Is it new enough to have a BSI? What year is it? If you have an RPO/vin even better.lozz wrote:i presume iwouid have to swap out ecu-lock and bsi,

Ergh! Y seems to be March to August 2001, giving an RPO range from 8878 to 9061, seems it can either be a 206 (no BSI) or a 206+ (with BSI) but not a 206 full-mux.
Why is it never easy?
Looking at the immobiliser diagram for the 206+ it seems to have an ecu separate from the BSI - 8220 : analogue module transponder - I hope this means what I think it means but I can't find it on Service Box
Ooh, 206+ will have com2000.

The handbrake isn't an issue, the short cable can be snipped to release it, and as long as the front wheels stay straight you can bung it onto a recovery truck.... You can sort it at you leisure when its somewhere safe.
To be honest, I would try to get a key from Peugeot, it may cost a bit but it would save so much hassle, you'll need a key at some point anyway........

Re: sorry not 406 related,.
Not sure if I should post this in an open forum, but here goes...
To get in the car get yourself a thin welding rod or metal coat hanger...bend a hook on the end, using a screwdriver pull back the door frame until you can easily slide the rod down onto the flat pull up door catch button and lift it up.
Once in the car take out a door lock and take it to a lock repair place who will make a key to fit the lock...this will unlock the steering so you can turn the key and press in a pin to extract the barrel. You can then get a new barrel and key.
BTW that sealant is RTV, I think you said you tried that?

Thanks jasper,
Ive managed to get some 'sealant. took both top covers off cleaned everything off.
one of the cover's the one for the inlet cam,was full of baked on crud,
not sure what to do next, if iuse an engine adative type flush iguess it couid block up the oil strainer.
