The power of advertising
I was just driving to work and that there "Search for the Hero" by M People came on the radio. I was overcome with a wave of nostalgia for my 406s.

The power of advertising...to force you to never watch live tv...
I vaguely remember the ad but I don't associate it with the 406, just another car ad to turn off.

Re: The power of advertising
You don't see so many car adverts now, I can't remember the last time I saw an advert for a Ford and yet the telly used to be littered with them
I liked that 406 ad, kinda 'be different' which was right really. To be fair, and we've said this before, the D8 406 was wayyyyy better than the equivalent Mondeo and Vectra's of the time; proof being that you still see them on the road. They obviously wanted the 406 to be better and yet sales still suffered against the Ford and Vauxhall brands.

Re: The power of advertising
I watch way too much telly and rarely watch stuff live as Steve says, the "spin on" button is my friend, allows me to watch a one hour programme in around 42 minutes
. So I don't see anywhere near as many adverts as I used to. I do still get the odd song stuck in my head and associated to an advert though, luckily I'm old enough to know better but I think it's really sad that there are a huge number of people out there who think that the music is just from the advert. The first one to spring to mind is Blur's epic "The Universal", known to many only as the British Gas advert
Spot on with the 406 Welly, definitely ahead of it's time!

Re: The power of advertising
I R WATCH WHEELER DEALERZ far too much lately.
I watch telly from maybe 8:00 to 10:00pm in order to wind-down from the day. I like anything from Corrie to Airline disasters. Looking forward to I'm a Celeb starting this Sunday

Re: The power of advertising
Whenever I see an old volvo I wonder how it would cope with being dropped, or driven off the edge of a multi-storey car park......
The best ads were the vw ones from the late eighties, some of those were genius.

Re: The power of advertising
Thats a good old ad, nowadays cars seem to be too focused on Finacne.
The 80s seemed to have a good selection of cheesy adverts:
Aw68Smqzfq8
This one is even better:

Edit: fixed the links for you mate, Dai

Re: The power of advertising
What was the ad where a chimney was demolished by Fred Dibnah? Was that a Scirocco one? I think the tag line was "Your foot is on the trigger".
