Trip computer wiring
This is about the xsara, but so far most of the parts have been identical
Its a pre com2000 car, ive got it a type b mfd, and wiper stalk with trip button, and i have activated the trip computer function on lexia, but pressing the button did not cycle through the options, i took off the stalk and checked if it had continuity when pressing the buttons (ok) but the wire for the trip computer terminal is not there at the back of the connector block.
I need to add this wire, do you know where (on the 406 at least) it goes to, is it the BSI, back of the MFD or somewhere else?

Re: Trip computer wiring
Thanks lozz but im registered over there, but i thought it would be better to ask here as im guessing more people have retrofitted trip computers on the 406 than on a zsara
Re: Trip computer wiring
Xsara is wired up different to 406.
306 might be the same,,

Re: Trip computer wiring
It would have different wiring but im guessing the basic principle is the same, the xsara got a trip computer option, but as far as i can tell the 306 didnt.

Re: Trip computer wiring
I can't find a trip computer for the 306.
Citroen Sedra isn't helping much either (and that's after having to reinstall it
), no sign of a trip computer for Xsara, Xsara II gives me the option for com2000 but whatever I select it has com2000

Re: Trip computer wiring
I had a look at the 306 guide its quite good, but thats installing a trip computer from scratch, at the moment ive installed the MFD, the wiper stalk, programmed the BSI and Display for a trip computer but the only thing left is a wire from the wiper stalk block to somewhere else, im guessing its something on the back of the display to cycle through the various options, i have chopped the multiplugs out of another xsara for the Mfd and wiper stalk.
Does sedre do citroens ill take a look on it to see what it says

Re: Trip computer wiring
There's one for Pugs and one for Cisterns, I've got both on here (and flipping huge hey are too)
I'm guessing RPO 9200, any earlier and I don't get any diagrams, any later and I'd think they'll all have com2000 but it'd be useful to have the right one in case I'm missing something.

Re: Trip computer wiring
Cough cough cough torrent cough....
By George, I think we've got it. Xsara still useless, Xsara II still only giving me 3 diagrams. What happens if I say it's a LHD? Answer: I get the lot
I guess it doesn't make much difference electrically, just the locations might be a touch off...

0005 - Screen wiper switch (finally)
Wire M-whatever just seems to be an earth (for the signalling)
Wire 7225 heads off up to the BSI:

26-way yellow, pin 21
Your mission, should you choose to accept it...

Re: Trip computer wiring
Excellent!
Sedra comes up trumps for once
No worries, it's nice to be able to pay you back for some of those vids you've made...
How painful was it getting wires into that BSI connector?

It has its moments when it can be useful, its the time it takes to load up which can be a bit of a pain.steve_earwig wrote:Excellent!![]()

Ive got plenty of pics and video of this process so ill have a video in a while.
Getting at the bsi in a xsara, its an absolute pain to get at, swear words aplenty, all of the wiring is concentrated over at that side of the dash and the bsi is slide up into place so there is very little room at the side to get the plug off, and no handy access holes, or removable chunks of dash to improve things, the 406s bsi is a doddle compared to this.
