Hi guys,
Got some new rear clusters on order from Peugeot as my current ones are cracked and letting in water. How do I remove the painted metal strip from the current rear lights? Are they held on by clips or what?
Thanks!
Benjamin

I'm betting it just unclips in such a way that it's impossible to fathom how to unclip it without breaking it until you've already done one.

I guess prying at them carefully with plastic flat-ended tools like proper trim-removal tools?

£40 each to my surprise! Not as bad as I was expecting. I guess when I have the new units it will be much easier to work out how they come off.

They are clipped on but of your careful might be able to get them off without breaking if not gripfill them back on or something similar worked for me

I bet gumby would have let you have the one's off his breaker for a fiver, could have picked em up when you collected the interiorfattail95 wrote:£40 each to my surprise! Not as bad as I was expecting. I guess when I have the new units it will be much easier to work out how they come off.

I wanted new boxed ones as most 406 rear lenses I've seen that are used all have let condensation in due to a possible failed seal or something, so I thought I may as well buy a pair while they are relateively cheap compared to what some cost.dirtydirtydiesel wrote:I bet gumby would have let you have the one's off his breaker for a fiver, could have picked em up when you collected the interiorfattail95 wrote:£40 each to my surprise! Re: Removing the painted strip in rear light... How?
There's a clip near to the straight end. The centre of it is about 4cm in. The clip needs to go up, but I don't know if that's possible.
I would do the following. Push a screwdriver or knife in the end of the strip, and push out. Use something thin, to minimise damage at the insertion point.
You will probably break the clip, but mine holds on adequately with it broken. You could try glueing the broken clip before putting it back on, it doesn't need to be strong.
