My 'improved' car

Post by Captain Jack »

Welp, since it's very sunny and I am not one of those sad souls who buggered off to Cornwall in a caravan for the weekend, I decided to fit the bumper bumpers with silver linings and wash the car. Here's the result :)

After washing though, I saw that the paintwork is definitely showing its age. There are countless 'scuffs' and marks. Need to get someone to give a good wax/polish to restore the thing! Also need to get rid of the bonnet ding that you can see here.

Else it's all OK. Just need some nice allows now and subtle spoiler :)

Looking purdy!

Where did you get the silverized scuff strips (black bits)?

FleaBay :D Got the fog lights, stalk and the strips for 80 quid delivered. I must say the back ones were a pain in the arse to fit... especially the silver strip. Stupid design on those...

towbar has been there since I bought it 3.5 years ago. Had a look underneath to see how I could remove it, but it looks like too much work so it's kind of a deterrent for anyone hitting me from behind :P

I've just fitted chrome strips to mine. Did a blue though and just bought the tape and did it myself. Cars looking good!! My paintwork is in the same state and needs a bit of TLC. Mind you magicolour seems to hide everything well.

Sorry I was talking out of my bottom there for a minute. Its Colour magic from Turtlewax not magicolour (think thats something to do with printing?!?!) Its a wax/polish that you can buy in many colours and its hides all those white scratchy marks quite well. Its easy to apply as well, just the same as a normal wax.

do I need an exact colour match though, or any shade of green will do?

There should be many shades of green available and you should be able to find one that is pretty close. Its also comes with a chipstick that you can rub over deeper scratches but that is sh*te!

I have the dark green one and that blends in really well, but my car is a darker green than yours ( the same as Niz)

Back to its former glory. It seems everyone is potching with either cars or their house today. A new shed roof was my past time.

And I spent 9 hrs welding my zook (planned on about 4! ). 2 hours planned for reassembly later today, so I might get to bed by midnight  . Still she should pass another MOT now :cheesy:

Car's looking nice Cap'n... 8). I recently had a potch with the chrome strips on mine (had to make sure they were all perfect in the wake of fitting my Welton panel :cheesy: ) and had cause to remove one of them from the black rub strip. What a stupid design on the clips  , almost impossible to put it back in without damaging something  .
