Anyone got any significant Snow?

Post by Welly »

They're saying this week might bring a fair amount of the white stuff? I've not had much in the Midlands, last Friday morning there was some chaos as approx 7mm of snow brought my driveway to a standstill (thankfully no-one was killed) but other than that its been a bit of a Winter-Tyre'd flop this year for me.

Winter tyres not snow tyres below 7 degrees better off than summer tyres mumble...

It's on the forecast, it was snowing last night and there was an inch or so on the yoyo by the time I retired so I was expecting to break out the shovels in the morning but it had all gone

Did you see this? http://metro.co.uk/2015/02/01/yellow-sn ... n-5044480/ You'd have thought etc.

Much the same here, Friday's precipitation was sufficient to have me skating round the car whilst scraping the windows, but otherwise nada.

It's very disappointing. A very light dusting settled one night causing road chaos but that was more to do with people having no idea how to drive.

There's about an inch or so fallen this evening, it's lying on untreated roads.

Morning slush hour may be 'fun'.

Its very much on/off snow, no sign of it all day or even going to bed but there is quite a lot the past few mornings.

Snowed like billio here this afternoon but we are to far south for it to settle unless it gets very heavy and cold. Having said that in 1977 we had snow half way up the front door, never saw it like that even when we lived in Kent.

Likewise, we had a bit of snow overnight - just enough to create a thin white blanket.

It'll be gone by lunchtime.... :(

Bit more last night, say 20mm? (I must be desperate, soon it'll be measured with a feeler gauge) but it was enough for me to do some brake testing with the Winter Tyres this morning. Braking was effective but they still 'let go' under acceleration more than I'd like. I can't really say they've been much use this year, the trade off being a squishiness to the steering etc.

Someone said that Winters' go off quickly? mine are 4 years old, something about the rubber losing its pliability. I really must try and get some 16" steelies in the summer, it's costing a fortune having the tyres swapped from rim to rim.

About the same at home - maybe an inch tops, all but the side streets clear.
West of Cambridgeshire looked about the same first thing - it's raining now after a sunny morning.
Forecast hints at 'possible slight accumulations' tonight, so I guess nothing dramatic [/Michael Fish]
