207 electrical-gremlin/witchcraft?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Its quite common, its happened lots of times on PSA cars.....

I always leave my drivers door on the latch if I need to leave it ticking over, just in case :frown:

My 406 developed a habit of doing this after I had to Jump it because the battery had got too flat.

I think a battery disconnect, leave it and reconnect eventually resolved it.

I don't think it's exclusive to PA, had it happen on a Ford and a Rover.....
I never close the door fully when scrapping ice off etc...

Thanks for the reply's.

found the problem.. both rear light cluster, connectors melted,
not sure why it wouid cause the doors to randomly lock but it does, :?

with them disconnected it dosent do it,

been looking for replacement connectors but no luck, even scrapyard's wont sell them me,,gotta buy the full loom, £70

Maindealer, said they don't sell the conectors or any kit to repair them, not sure what to do next, :(

More important question would be why have they melted in the first place!

I would hard wire / make my own connections rather than pay £70 and have to run a new loom.

Thanks..*the connector's have gone on the earth,
the plastic as got hot and melted, (going off google..its common)

they arnt the same as on most pugs, the wires are thin and connectors are realy small,
Bad desighn,
if it was an older car,id make up my own conectors,

ive messaged a few breakers on ebay..hopefully one of them will sell me the conectors and abit of wire,

Is it CAN bus? Altering the resistance or adding / removing anything to the circuit can cause all sorts of trouble. (*so I'm told)

Probably unrelated, but my daughters ' 57-plate 307 had some weird faults when the earth pin in the connector to her o/s/r light cluster melted.
I just soldered a wire onto the common connection bars and earthed it on one of the mounting studs. Been fine since.
