fault code reader?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

fault code reader?

Post by johntl »

I've seen a fault code reader for sale and it says for cars 96 onwards that are ODB11 and CAN compliant ?
Will it work on the 406, I've got a 2001 2.0 hdi 110 ???

Probably not - diesels didn't have to be OBD2 compliant until 2004, typically some bits work and others don't.
Your best bet is Peugeot Planet 2000 - clones on eBay for about £70 these days, search for 'Lexia 3'
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
