I has been eclipsed

Post by benczuk »

Only 85% ish down here, so it didn't get as dark as in 99, but at least I could see something this time as it was covered with thick cloud last time.

Shame it didn't get as dark as I hoped, last time all the birds shut up and the rabbits came out on the dunes.

At least you didn't pay £20 for a pair of "eclipse viewing glasses" as some fools were doing on ebay (I hope)

The things were everywhere last time, this time i haven't seen a single pair in a shop.

Trusty welding mask for me.

In that 1999 I happened to be in the yard of our local BOC depot who lendeded me a welderz No.10 glass what I looked through.

Primitive but effective, I remember the birds were going a bit weird and suffering with heightened tension.

Then I noticed the avian population was acting strange..........be-dum...tschhhh :P :P

I got to see it more or less at it's maximum. 8)
Huntingdonshire District Council had the foresight to provide exactly the right amount of cloud cover to let you see it clearly without dazzle.
Those of you with less proactive local government should seek an immediate reduction in your 2015/16 council tax bill.

95% in Aberdeen.

Both eclipse and cloud cover...

I got some photos on my mobile phone, shot through my eclipse glasses (pack of 4 for £6 off Amazon). I was the only one that brought some in to work this morning - everyone else was laughing, but then changed their tune when I let them have a borrow.

I've not looked yet, but the photos will likely be awful. Will let you lot see 'em later on, if you misbehave.

I completely missed it but then I don't think we got much of it here. I was outside at the time and I did notice it starting to dim but I was too busy playing "why the *?=/&%%/$ won't this #&%$()$?* cultivator start?!" at the time so my mind was otherwise engaged.

You've got a few panels there, the best I have seen from mine was 2.75kw.

Misty down here, had my welding shield ready, caught a brief glimpse without it - then couldn't see properly for 5 minutes.
