anyone know if a d9 406 estate tailgate will fit a d8 ???

It will fit, but you may need to remove the D9 wiring loom from it ( via the N/S speaker cover, unclip the connectors and pull through from the tailgate ) and put the older D8 wiring/lights in.

The later D9, 2002 onwards, has more wires through the boot and extra earth points than early D9 I believe, so you may need to change the rear wiper motor too.

The only external difference is the rubber strip has a chrome insert on D9

thank you thats very helpful, dont suppose you know how to wire a d9 drivers door switches to a d8 the d9 seems to have a lot less wires.

Sorry no, but I think it has been done before as some people put D9 door cards in a D8 car.

Why are you fitting the D9 switch?

If you have an Executive D8, this may explain why there are more wires.

ive put electric leather seats & door cards in my d8 glx from a d9 the only thing i cant get working is the drivers door switches.

I think a chap called midzmike did his D8 the same as you, although it was a couple of years ago and he has since got rid of his car.

Perhaps a kindly gent on the forum can supply a wiring diagram, for which wire number does which job..??
