idling very bad

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

hi all ,

i have a problem on my peugeot 406 coupe 2.0 16v , the car drives good , but when u make it free it dont idle good and it stay hunting like its going to turn off but it dont, in short words it dont idle good as it suppose to , i have changed lot of parts, like idle control valve , throttle position sensor , spark plugs , ecu kit , fuel regulator, map sensor , serviced the injectors , i think i almost changed everything :?
what do you guys think ?

Hi
Check for leaks..inlet manifold.
Failing that I'd guess next step would be check timing.
And perhaps a compression test..

hi thanks for your reply , i will check for leaks next week as im gonna do a clutch replacement and while is there he's gonna check for leaks !!

do you think bad timing can lead in bad idling ?

and btw cos in my first msg i didnt mention that i checked the car with pp2000 and there's a fault "intermittent fault - mixture regulation Lower stop"

thanks again

:arrowu: , is it a genuine one as some of the pattern ones are rubbish & through up all kinds of faults

its me again ,
another thing came in mind and i wish to know what you think!
the fault " mixture regulation - Lower stop " is from the area of the lambda sensor and catalytic !!
once i removed the catalytic to make it a straight pipe but the car came too noisy and i decided to welded back again !!
could i may damaged it by leaving it about 6 months or more in the garage and worst by welding it back in place with (co2) that emits
excessive heat and could have damaged it !! what guys you think ?? and if i damaged it, the car could not make a good mixture and is resulting in bad idling !!

If its had a Decat. and you didn't use a lambda 'sleeve.
perhaps the lambda sensor couid be toast.

its worth checking the 'wiring.

Are you sure the 'cat-itself is all good?

Back to 'PP2000

did you check to see if you can 'scope/graph whats going on the sensors?
ive never used pp so idont know.

is the lambda sensor the correct one?

theres two,, yes?
1 has a heater probe..and one dosent iirc..
if wrong one is fitted,,with no heater..itl perhaps run rich..or too lean..

yes i bought the good lambda , i bought it with the same chassis number and yes it is with the heater !!
next step im gonna check the wiring/connection to the lambda and check catalytic !! and also timing cos if they did bad timing when changing the belt
it could lead to all this !!! many thanks for now , i'll keep u posted exactly when i have results !!! hopefully good now :?
