Hi all, I have just changed the fuel and air filters on a recently bought 03 90bhp hdi siemens system. I then noticed alot of air bubbles in clear pipe after the filter but these seemed to have cleared but the car can no longer start itself, it has to be push started and is grunting alot more. I thought maybe I still had a leak in the filter housing so I decided to get some fuel pipe and bypass it but still wont start. I am wondering what should my next course of action be?
Also I have a 99 110bhp hdi bosch system sitting up for parts but didn't think any of the fuel or engine components would be any use on the new car.

Be sure the seal on the filter housing is air tight then try pumping the plastic bulb as you have the outlet pipe off the filter...let the air out then put you finger over the pipe on the filter...keep doing this until diesel is forced out.
If the car is still reluctant to start then try to start it pumping the bulb at the same time.
I've found that bleeding these filters is easier with the front of the car pointing downhill.

Will do. I am wondering is there anyway to bleed the pump itself? Thecar will start by push just not on the key which made me think the pump could be airlocked?

Once you have the car running the fuel system should bleed itself.
If you have problems then I would look at everything you did and examine whether you fitted the filter and seal correctly and if you disturbed anything in the process.

I have checked the seal a couple of time now but still seems to be alot of air bubbles coming from the. Filter housing. None in the clear pipes before so I have ordered a new housing, just hope no damage is done till I get it. I thought it was odd that it still didn't run right with the bulb and housing bypassed but will wait till I get new housing before I try anything else.

After putting in new housing and still lots of bubbles toke it off to check again and the seal on the electronic connector disintegrated. Could this let air into housing and could someone tell me what does it do? Also easiest way to seal again.

You mean the new housing electrical connection?
The electrical connection is to indicate water in the filter.

Yeah the little 2 pin connector on the top of the housing there was a seal on it but when I went to take off the connector the seal disintegrated. Could air get into the housing threw this? And whats the easiest way to seal it again

Well, if air can get in then diesel can get out, so I would expect some kind of leak.

I had a problem bleeding the filter on a 308 today, the seal hadn't been sealing...took me ages to sort it out. I back bled the filter by pumping diesel into the filter...that bled it nicely.
As soon as it started everything was fine.
Pumping diesel into the filter housing would show up any leak of air or fuel.
I've never seen the seal off the electrical connection.

Robbef another connector off the other car and still air bubbles and no starting so I got the filter housing off blanked 1 end connected it to an air compressor put in a bucket of water and put pressure at 4 bar not 1 bubble in sight so the housing seems to be fine after all that. Now I suspect the pipe from housing to pump but I have no clear hose to test guess I will just have to put on a black one and see if it sorts the problem. If that doesn't solve it I have no clue whats next.
