Locking Wheel Nuts, really?

Are wheels really at risk of being stolen anymore? we all seem to have LWN's but even they don't pose much of a barrier to an experienced wheel lifter. I know they were all the rage in the 90's and 2000's but now are they not just a nuisance to us and garages trying to work on cars?

Couldn't find any statistics, but I remember a recent article where an Audi dealership was hit and they took almost all the wheels.

I would think it is entirely dependent on location, desirability and age... I'm not too worried about my PITA center less ones...

I saw that Aldi thing, I think it was abroad? and brand-new ally's with tyres are very desirable I guess but for us general motoring plebs I think it's unlikely we'll ever go outside of a morning to see our cars up on bricks. Our CAT's may have been stolen though

I hate the damn things, lost the key to my old 406's locking wheel screws and had to drill the b's out.

This one had two different keys, so I dumped them ages ago. (Mind you don't tell anyone on a public forum though).

There must be thousands of alloy wheels at scrapyards and I don't think 406 ones are particularly rare. I meant to get some ordinary wheel bolts to replace mine last time I went but forgot, but I will, they are a confounded nuisance.

It wouldn't be the alloys they're after, it's more like the tyres. It's something else to put the tea leaves off, making it more likely they'll go and take the wheels off another car (or even take the whole car).

We don't suffer from that problem very much in sleepy Dorset but there is always time ....
