For sale 406 2.0 (110) gtx auto estate

For sale is my reliable 406 Estate I've owned for just under 2 years. It is a GTX automatic estate with electric seats and climate control. These go on forever. It has some wear and tear as you would expect from a 14 year old car but is in good condition. Only thing to note is that there is a dent in the rear passenger quarter (no paint loss) - just never got round to getting it sorted. The car has the built in SatNav with the remote control, which is a rare thing to keep with the car as they always seem to go missing, and has the most recent disc available for the car. Included is an upgraded Sony stereo which allows you to play MP3s and CDs. It has just under 1 month MOT left and has 4 fairly new tires on with less than 2000 miles driven on them, when I last replaced the rear tires tracking was also done on all four wheels. Recently changed all filters and oil change done (less then 2000 miles ago). This is a good all round car and well worth a look in person. This is in the rare Delft Blue aka Rhodes Blue., BLUE, Part service history, Electric sunroof, Electric windows, Air conditioning, Satellite navigation, MP3 player, CD player, Height adjustable driver's seat, Height adjustable passenger seat, Folding rear seats, Metallic paint, Alloy wheels, Spare wheel (Full), Power steering, Steering wheel rake adjustment, Steering wheel reach adjustment, Cruise control, Roof rails, Central locking, Immobiliser, Driver's airbags, Side airbags, Passenger airbags. 5 seats, £999

You can MOT a car within 30 days of the current expiry date, if it fails it still has the original expiry date in force. I think.

If it's SORN, you can take it to/from the MOT without tax. You have to insure it though.

Yes, from gov.uk website:
You can only drive an untaxed vehicle on a public road if you’re driving it to or from a licensed station for a pre-arranged MOT, vehicle identity check, or weight or emissions test.
It doesn't matter whether it passes or not.

https://www.gov.uk/getting-an-mot/after-the-test

"You can still drive your vehicle if it fails the MOT and its existing MOT certificate is still valid (ie you got it tested before the MOT ran out). "

But don't get stopped or you risk:

"You can be fined up to £2,500, be banned from driving and get 3 penalty points for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition."

While that applies at any time i suspect if they show you knowingly drove with faults i'm sure they will be more inclined to throw the book at you...

Difficult with all the ANPR equipped police cars though.

I would reckon on a day's insurance (£30.00?) and a pre-booked MOT (£45.00?) at the worst you'd be able to sell it with a proper fail sheet or at best it'll slip though the MOT painlessly and jobs a good'un.

seems at odds with:
You can only drive an untaxed vehicle on a public road if you’re driving it to or from a licensed station for a pre-arranged MOT, vehicle identity check, or weight or emissions test.
Failing an MOT doesn't make the vehicle necessarily dangerous, so the £2,500 fine etc is not necessarily applicable. Of course, if it fails on brakes/tyres/suspension etc then that's a different matter.

I believe there's provision for taking a SORN'd car that has failed an MOT to a place of repair, providing it did not receive a prohibition notice and it is not in a dangerous condition. However I can't seem to find that on the gov.uk website...
