you car looks great. i just need the mot to be a bit longer. id only have a few weeks to do all the work and its just me doing the work with the children as spanner fetchers.

i think im going down the route of less toys and manual so i can keep it going for a few yrs. need the car for camping trips etc. i have a brand new golf estate but in cream leather its not the best for moving dirty things around.

im think 90 lx estate with light colour with remap to 110 and no dmf/dpf etc.

Just been to take the dog to the park and noticed a 1999 virtualy unmarked 1 owner from new solid red lx estate with silver grey cloth. 100 k miles. 11 months mot. cambelt, water pump, full exhaust system, and 4 new tyres last summer.
all electric work and air con is ice cold.
full service history and even luckier i know the owner. i didnt want to appear eager as ive seen these really clean lowish mileage cars make 1000-1500 pounds. shes taken delivery of her new car today and its in the way. i Paid 800 for it which i think is reasonable

Good result, sounds like you got a right bargain ( twice..! )

I am putting some electric seats into an LX in a week or so, I'll let you know how easy it is to do. I think your LX will have the power supply under the seat already if you decide to add leather seats or whatever.

My first 406 was a solid red Hdi90 - a great car that I drove all round Devon in it, fully loaded and still got 45 to the gallon, I also fitted a chip-tuning box which helped it along a bit.

Enjoy the car, and it is the law here to post a picture of every new 406 purchased.. :cheesy:

Sounds like a good one to me, I don't think you'd have found much better. Sometimes when cars pop up locally like that they are the best ones to go for.

i was worried about the price but a known car with that history for 800 is a good result.
she wanted 1200 which i would have paid had it been 3years newer and a higher spec
lets see how long it will be before it needs drop links or similar. doe those before though.

spoke too soon. roads around here are very smooth but even with 11.5 months mot the drop links are knocking on rougher roads. get the spanners out i suppose..

If you fit decent ones, they last for years. Cheap ones a matter of months.....
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
