Sony, Kenwood & Alpine Car Stereo Equipment

Post by waue1978 »

I've just fitted a bluetooth stereo into the Zafira & am selling my old Sony head unit, but I've actually amassed a fair bit of car stereo bits over the years & seeing as there's very little chance that I'll be doing much in the way of In Car Entertainment for a long long time now, I may as well clear the lot out.

The head unit is a Sony CDX F7500 which plays cds & MP3. The changer is a CDX 757MX 10disc MP3 changer. They're a few years old, but they've served me well.

The speakers are an assortment of Kenwood & Alpine 6.5ins coaxials & a pair of Alpine 4ins coaxials - these were what I had in my 406 estate. The 4ins fit in the rear pillars & the 6.5ins all fit in the front doors.

I've also got some speaker adaptor wiring which I know are for Peugeot/Citroens, but there are 2 different types & I can't remember which ones were bought for my Partner & which were from the 406. On top of this there's a box full of speaker wiring, power wiring, RCA leads (for amplifiers) & a spare changer control lead.

Was hoping to get away without putting it on Ebay as the speakers would be a mare to try & post without damaging & I know from having it all in mine that there's about 75% of a pretty good 406 install with the whole lot. If there's anybody on here that fancies it, give me a shout with an offer. It's all going with the aim of making my house move easier by reducing my clutter that I've accumulated! May even be able to use it as an excuse to go to Pugfest if anybody is going there that wants it.

Hi Stu, that's quite a haul...

I am interested in the lot, for the wifes Pickarsehole, but may I ask a question?

Do you have a patch lead to control the stereo from the steering wheel, and does the 10 disc CD unit need a power supply or is it fed from the stereo?

I'm quite possibly the worst person with electrical stuff ( I can turn on lights, scroll a mouse etc... but thats about it ) so will this be a pleasure* to try and fit in a car I'm not bothered about..?

Don't think I have a patch lead, but I wouldn't be overly surprised if I found one in the shed. Best to assume not though as there are so many different types for Peugeots & Citroens anyway - had a nightmare when I had to get one for the Partner.

CD changer just takes it's feed from the stereo. It's connected to the head unit by the controller lead & a set of RCA leads.

Hi Stu, the wife has just 'politely' reminded me that she would rather have a bluetooth stereo for her car, so she can torment us with her wonderful* collection of Will Young songs.....

I may have to give this a miss, and venture up to a well known and respected* car/pushbike emporium, one that sells over-priced and incorrect service parts, to be bamboozled by a spotty youth explaining Mp5s, outputs/inputs or whatever...

Thanks anyway.

Laboratory* tests have proven that Will Young based popular* music* can provoke violent behavior and extreme face-contortions in Males between the ages of 29 to 51 if heard at any volume within a 5mtr radius.

Waue - I think that sort of equipment dates quite quickly as you know but maybe an ebay add might shift it? I don't think you'll get much though but someone with an older car would likely be interested. I have a nice Sony multi-changer at home with an expensive connection lead (about 10 years old) but I doubt anyone wants it. The main problem now with newer cars is that stereo's are integrated into the car, they're even broken down into smaller units around the car and 'accessed' via the driver information thingy.

Potentially not much use now but Aldi were flogging a deckless bluetooth head unit a few weeks back for £30. it wont give grade A HiFi but it works well with audio playback and hands free. Might be worth checking if your local store has any left over?

Reckoned it'd end up being an Ebay job anyway, but would have been handier to get rid of one big joblot (including the PSA bits). Worst comes to the worst, the teenager has 2 years before he's old enough to drive & if he ever tears himself away from the Playstation long enough to learn & earn, his would probably have to be a cheap old smoker that would benefit from an aftermarket stereo.

I can personlly attest to the fact that the upper age limit does not apply. I contend that there may be no upper limit, but the onset of hearing loss, dementia or volvo ownership may present indications to support the above theory.

I have no risk of hearing Mr_Young on my Volvo's Wireless as, at present, it is refusing to play my miniature records.

I listen not to the Radiogram because DJ's and Adverts in that order :frown:

Ideally I'd like to sell as a job lot, but it all needs to go, so if you just want the head unit, make me an offer. Would you need it posting or are you relatively local (Hampshire)?
