PP2000 help please

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Any advice would be much appreciated, the guy that sold me this told me not to update it or it would mess it up....

You may need to uninstall and reinstall with a different validation code. I run it on a virtual machine that doesn't have internet access so it can't connect in any way.

Thanks OllieNZ,

Where would I get the validation code from?

There should have been a keygen tool to provide one in the installation files. They tend to be picked up by antivirus software as malicious.

That explains what happened!

I made the mistake of running Kaspersky scan on the laptop, and it said there was a Trojan,
so I asked it to delete the file........

Will try a reinstall now,

Thanks

Hi Steve, unless Ollie can advise differently, I would also suggest an uninstall and re-install.

Its a pain in the bum, but if you are having problems to sort the new install out then we can meet up and work it out, or you can drop the laptop round mine and I'll set it up for you while you relax* and enjoy* taking the missus shopping etc.

Hi Kelv,

OllieNZ has been very helpful today, but sadly it is not yet resolved. Have uninstalled and reinstalled several times trying various things, but no luck so far.

I will report back again tomorrow..... gotta disappear just now soz.

PS thanks for the offer, I expect the missus would enjoy a shopping trip to the west of West Quay.

Cheers Steve

Hi Kelv,

I would like to take you up on your offer! Though to take away any time pressures I will probably drop it round to you,
spend some time showing you what I (with the help of OllieNZ) have already tried, and then leave it with you for a week or so....

Will pm you.

Cheers Steve

Just to update the thread - Steve is now sorted.

His PP2000 is now installed, his copy from the desktop wasn't working and for some reason his laptop didn't read the discs. It read my discs fine so I uninstalled his version and installed and updated mine instead.
The issue Steve was having is with PP2000, when I clicked to open Diagnostics from the main page I was getting an error message, a Mozilla Crash Report. This is because PP2000 wasn't activated, and normally by clicking the Diagnostic menu it would send you to the activation page.. but by pressing F5 ( I think ) the option is there for manual activation instead, which worked.

His laptop was also ridiculously slow to start up, but I think this is because it was searching to open programs that were not on the computer, but by removing them from the start-up menu also seemed to do the trick.

Tried and tested on my 406 last night before dropping his laptop at work to be collected earlier today.

Hint alert..!! If you want your PP/Lexia to stop pestering you for automatic updates when you first open the program, simply use the search feature in Windows, type in PPO.INI and this will lead to a drop down menu. Look for a line that says chrome or something ( can't remember exactly ) and this will lead to a notepad page. Look for a line that says 'Auto update=true and change this to Auto update=false and save the change when you close the window.. :cheesy:

Hi Kelv,

YES, start up much improved, You're a genius!

However, after two good start ups, the third left me with a black screen for ages ending in a forced shut down.....

I have since discovered that this laptop for some unknown reason prefers to be logged off before shutting down!?

Anyway, all good since thank you...

Many Thanks to you and OllieNZ for getting this problem sorted :)

Can you tell me what this card is in the side of the laptop? Was it there before or did you add it Kelv?
Also how do you get the release clip thingy to stay pushed in?

Hi Steve, sorry I was a bit premature with the self-congratulations.....

Your laptop worked fine when I started it and shut it down 4 times in a row, maybe I was just lucky.

As for the little clip thing that sprung out, it was fine when I first got the laptop but came springing out on me when I was moving the laptop about when testing PP2000. The card or whatever it is in the side hasn't been touched, just the clip. I tried to push it back in but I couldn't work out how it stays in.... sorry.
