My experience of the 2.2 engine in a C5 was that the fuel consumption was rubbish averaging less than 40 mpg so I sold it and bought a 2.0. and the consumption improved by at least 25%. A few people seem to get good mpg from the 2.2 but they are the exception rather than the rule.

I picked up a GLX saloon with 49k on the clock 3 weeks ago for £450 :D Not a hint of rust anywhere, freezing air con and drives like a new car. My previous one had catastrophic rust, virtually no rear chassis legs left, significant rot up all 4 arches, rot around front sub frame mounts, rot on one sill and various holes in the floor underneath. Lots of threads on the internet will tell you they don't rust, which is complete nonsense!

I ran a number of Citroen XM's over the years and the body's were brilliant for resisting rust until they were about 15 years old then they suddenly started going rusty. I think it must be something to do with the galvanising expiring.
