Central Locking LOcks but wont unlock

Hi 406 Executive estate.
Cebtral locking locks every time, but often wont unlock. I can hear things whiring away, most likely from the back door area, but It wont unlock with ant regularity. Ive just had fitted a tow bar with electrics, could that be it or is it just unlucky. I have to open the drivers door with the key and then the rest accordingly

Hi sorry about the typos in the first draft. Wrote it whilst at work with many a prying eye.
Ok failure mode is that the central locking won't open from the remote in the vast majority of cases. It locks and unlocks from inside the car(times out after many repetitions of the door toggle). And it locks every time from the remote.. no problem.
When it wont unlock from the remote, I can hear the motors trying to drive the rear doors open, accompanied by the side repeaters flashing a few times, but the doors will not open. I have to put the key in the drivers door and manually open, then unlock the doors from inside. Any ideas on how to trace this. I suspect that its a jamming latch rod or similar? But really dont have many ideas?
Hoping someone can at least give me a pointer... Please?

Could just be the mechs in the doors jamming up a bit and needing some lube.

I had this problem and I was lucky to be able to hear which one was 'struggling' to lock, so you could always give that a go.
