I read the ingredients and it did say 'Medical' :?

I guess it stops Aunty Mabel sprinkling some on the Salad....

As it's lunchtime I thought I'd mention earwax again :cheesy:

So after a long gap of not much to report this ear problem returned with a vengeance, out came the Otex Olive Oil drops (for the first time  ) and I can haz 2 drips per ear + plug of cotton wool, fine, but all I'm seeing is lots going in but nothing much coming out? so have stopped for the time being in case you'll be able to see Olive Oil slopping about behind my eyes.

Should I expect a river of goo or does the body break it down somehow with the Oil?

Enjoy your lunch btw.

It doesn't take much to bung your ear up, its only a very small hole. Salt water works with mine every time.

You might need your ears syringed Welly, they usually get you to use ear drops for a couple of weeks before syringing to soften up the wax. You'll get a massive gusher of waxy water in the kidney bowl when they do it and the relief is bliss (except everything is very loud!)

So after a weekend of being miserable and not hearing in both ears despite the olive oil drops etc I went to the quacks yesturday..........

Sorry Mr_Welly we can see that your ears are full of wax but we don't do syringing anymore you could try this here Private Practice or continue with the Olive Oil for 2 weeks......Bye!

An hour later I was sat in the Private Practice waiting room for a 6:00pm... to which I was called for at 6:00pm

They 'extracted' the wax using a suction apparatus as this was explained to be a safer option than syringing. He put something in the ear and fed an air line down whilst looking through some apparatus; a bit like an opticians viewing thing.

£50.00 later  and all is clear and all I can say is PLEASE BE QUIET! Jesus the noise! the noise! I'm sure I'll get used to it but my ears are on high alert at the moment  my missus was carefully* clearing away some pots and pans in the Kitchen and I had to leave the room :frown:

P.S. I won't describe what came out of the ears

Glad to hear it's ok now. What are the chances of it happening again, did the quack say?

Sometimes it's worth paying up for small stuff, if you do it on the NHS you might have to wait months. I've done it a fair bit here, not just to avoid the queue but also to avoid all the stupid bureaucracy that goes with it.

To be honest I was so pissed off with firstly having the problem for weeks, then taking an hour off work to go sit with all the coughers at the GP's only to be told to f*ck off basically so I just thought f*ck it I'll sort it myself, would've done it before now if I'd have known how little help the GP would be.

It was recommended by the private place to put a drop of Oilve Oil  in each ear once a week to keep them clear.

Forgot to say the 'Private Practice' was primarily a Sexual Health Clinic, there were some interesting* Clientele I can tell you :o

Ooh, I've done the NHS version of that, they all looked like me, mildly embarrassed ordinary people about my age, trying to hold on to their bladders... I guess those willing to pay might be more, umm, affluent, trying not to be seen with the plebs. Or those to which it's an occupational hazard...

NSU BTW. Seems my ex was a bit careless. Never mind, I'd already given it back to her :supafrisk:

I went to a private physio when I did my back because the NHS (or HZZO as it is here) guy at the local clinic had a 2 month waiting list. And was a complete idiot, as it turns out.
