Intermittent judder

Post by Brillo »

One of those spasmodic problems which usually only occurs within the first half mile after startup. It's appears to be a brake judder from the front wheels which will disappear for a few days then happen again. Any other ideas guys? The ASR warning message sometimes comes on when starting, could there be a link?

Being an auto/slushmatic I would be looking at getting the auto box fluid changed.

It appears the problem you describe as judering under braking would be the auto box not holding the drive properly under braking (in my opinion).

(welcome by the way) :cheesy:

juddering

The juddering doesn't happen under braking, it occurs when I have to climb an incline outside my home which has a slight right hand bend in the road. It's when I hit this slight bend that a juddering from the front happens, it's as if the brakes are catching. It won't happen again until I leave work and again within a half mile I round a right hand bend then a judder may happen again. I can negotiate several right handers after this and nothing happens. It's weird. Thanks for your thoughts.

Wheel bearing shot, causing a disc to come in contact with a brake pad?

Could also be the CV joint I suppose.

Still reckon it's worth changing the slushmatic fluid though if you don't know when it was last done (which is probably never).

could be an ABS sensor, if the light is on, it maybe thinking the rear wheels are locking up when they aint, so it applys the front brakes, or it thinks the front wheels are spinning so it applys the brakes, more likely the latter
