So, just realised the Shitrun has been Tax exempt* due to it being registered to the MIL who receives Disability Living Allowance so the DLA people pay the Tax for her.
On the V5C under 'Tax Class' it says 'Disabled' so as soon as I send that off to the DOOVLA the car is effectively un-taxed and could be clamped.
Anyone ever had to change the taxation class back to PLG? some Googling says you used to do it at the local DVLA Office but these all closed in 2013 so now the Post Office can do it?
Effectively I want to change the taxation class and Tax the thing on the spot. Any tips?

Phone the DVLA and tax the car as you would normally on the date that you put on the V5 of the change of ownership.

I R CONFUSE?
Like a twat I've already got the signed V5 but dated 14 Nov, I guess it's still technically taxed until it changes ownership via the V5 though, which is yet to be posted

Can't you go to the Post Office and tax it using the "New keeper supplement" which is part of the V5C?
I believe it is labelled V5C2.....this is what you use to tax a vehicle when you have just bought it.

Edit....https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax
Follow through the procedure online using the V5C/2 (green slip)

Yes you're right, I've been on the Phone to the DOOVLA and what I need to do is fill in Section 7 of the V5C and under 'changes to vehicle' I must write DIESEL CAR under the Taxation Class, this prompts them to remove the DISABLED tax class when they renew the Document in our name so all subsequent VED demands will come through as normal. I then go to the PO with the new keepers supplement and simply ask to Tax the car. £30.00 for the year

£30? What a rip off.
My two motors cost me £0 to tax. I still get a reminder

£30.00 beats £280.00 for the Volvo of doom
even the Ashtray is £220.00 ?
The shitrun is listed as 120g/KM which is just on the threshold of the next tax band of £130.00? I wonder if it took a lot of work to strangle it down to 120g eh?
