URGENTLY WANTED: Rear Brake Backing Plates (The Pair)

Hi All,

Just did my brakes and discs prior to MOT on my 1999 Peugeot 406 LX 2.0 HDI 110 Diesel Estate, only to find that both rear brake backing plates have rusted away and are completely shot (not even able to repair) spent the last few week trying to locate, both new and secondhand ones, to no avail.
Does anyone have a source or a supplier that I may not know about?

Car off the road as no MOT so would really appreciate a quick response to this one.

Hi, to be honest these are hard to find, and the resident 406 breaker has a waiting list but there is no harm giving him a go - I'll PM his email to you now.

These are available new from the local Peugeot dealer, the part numbers are 4211 81, and 4212 81, but they are approximately £95 each - and to add insult you would probably need to replace the rear bearings/hubs as these are often mullered removing them to get the back plate off. You will need the 48 teeth version hubs, around £45 each from a local factors.

There is a chance the handbrake cable will be siezed in the backplate too, so WD40 them bad boys for a few days before attempting the job.

I have a pair for sale as no longer have a 406.

The drivers side is remarkably good I would say. The nearside is not as good but still solid and very useable.

Anyway £40 for the pair if any good to you.
