AP Fault - Anyone in Soton/Totton/Hants help?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

AP Fault - Anyone in Soton/Totton/Hants help?

Post by stuartkeith »

Hi, I have tried to find the map has it moved? I was on way home tonight when the car just cut out and battery light came on while driving. It started on the key ok when retired. Cut 100yrds down the road when the "anti polution" light came on and it went into limp mode.

Is there anyone near the totton area with PP2000 that can come and read the codes please? or offer advice. its an 2003 HDI 90 2l Rapier.

Thanks

Hi All

A big Thanks to Richard for taking a trip down to me. A great guy and helped out. I hope some of the tech bods here can make more sense than us.

Faults cleared and didn't come back.

Looks to me like not enough fresh air was coming in.

What seems suspicious to me is that both the EGR and the air doser (which I believe is EGR throttle electrovalve) never go below 10%.

Is OCR the requested or the measured position?

Sticky EGR and/or sticky doser?

Not too good on these but p0401 is egr fault - I'd expect that to give AP fault but not stop the engine. On the first screenshot the engine is revving but the air flow is zero. Duff maf? I don't think this would stop the engine either.

I grabbed some EGR cleaner from the shop, and new filters for everything else, and will do this tomorrow if dry! Thanks again to RWB.

Maybe you never get values below 10%, since it's time-proportioned it may not be able to register anything between 0 & 10.
I agree the air doser is probably the egr throttle ev
As steve says, air flow actual value suggests an intermittent MAF

Is this a Siemens HDi 90?
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

SO is it also worthwhile replacing the MAF, seeing as they are only £25
