Immobiliser fault?

I don't think it is that because I have just tried starting it again and if you leave the key in and open the door it bleeps at you, if you take the key out it stops, so presumably it must recognise the key. Help!

I don't know if it's the same and I can't check as my 406 is up at my gaff sans battery but the yoyo definitely has a microswitch in the lock and beeps at you with the door open whatever you have stuffed in there.

It bleeps if you open the door but stops when you take the key out so I assume it knows its there.

I suspect either the grey connection on the back of the comms unit, or the transponder ring is temperamental - maybe gently tap the ignition barrel when trying to start?

Can't find that shunt in either of my fuse boxes Lozz, they don't look anything like that.

Might sound strange, but check the fuses in the engine bay. Mine blew one of them when i was testing the fan actuation using PP2000 and the result was a permanent immobilizer fault (and panic). Replaced the fuse and all good.

The AA man has been and he couldn't sort it either, the only thing he said was that it was very damp and suggested I leave all the doors open for this brief period of sunshine, I was going to try that as it was dripping wet inside when I tried to start it earlier in the week due to condensation from the sudden temperature drop, I'm not holding my breath though.

I will check all the fuses though. Where do I find the RPO? on the XMs it was on the door post.

Should be likewise on the door post. Failing that it'll need the vin.

There are some numbers on the tyre pressure label, don't know if that's them but the VIN is VF38RHZF81312476.

Left all the doors open with a nice cold dry draft blowing through, re booted the BSI for about the 6th time and lo and behold no warning light. turned the key and it started.

Somewhat academic now, but I think you missed an 'E' in your VIN and it should be VF38ERHZF81312476.
