:cheesy:

Yup, both e-spares and Electrofux have have confirmed our machine cannot have the bearings replaced and you simply* replace the drum all-in £254.00 thanks. Fucksticks and arsebiscuits :frown: another perfectly good machine written itself off.

I'll wait until it gets worse and start looking at a new machine. That wasn't in this years budget, nor was the Citroen Cambelt, nor were seized Volvo Calipers (pending). Looks like this new year'll be just like all the other fuckers, there's a surprise

254 quid would buy a new washing machine! Maybe not such a good one mind. Start researching now I reckon - reliability, spares cost, ease of repair. There's nothing like rushing into these things at the last moment 'cos your old one did a Photon.

NSFW - it's a bit sweary.

You're right, the next machine will be 'Machine Number 4' in the last 13 years :frown:

1 - Indesit - electrical capers
2 - Hotpoint - control panel breakage and drum leak
3 - Electrolux - Bearing Failure.

I might convert the machine/opening to one you can see as normal which'll release money to buy a better make. Something like a Bosch maybe.

You can bet that whichever make* you go for they're probably all made by the f*cked Up Greedy Global Corporate Washing Machine Co. in the same factory using the same gear. [ref: Bailes vs Mann Filters 2016]

Bosch is brilliant.
But tbh I just think there an industrial version of Hotpoint.

That AEO.com or what ever it is seems good prices for washing machines..
*all tho they charge daft money to shift old machine..
I won't be paying for that..iwill dump mine out side my house ..the Ro-many'ens will shift/run off with it.

There was a story a while back about a guy who put his old washing machine out and phoned the council up to come and take it away. Weeks later it was still there, dispute numerous calls, so he put a "for sail" notice on it and it was gone the next day.

Dunno if it's true or not but it's one of the tales I tell people here when they ask me what it's like in the UK.

Ithink the council charge around £35 to remove a large item
Over here..and £15 per binbag.

We've moved into a rough area..well it wasn't at first.
And then a big tribe of ro-many'ens apeard.
They sort of scavenge around like rats..its quite handy really as when I've got anything that's f*cked up they want it.
There's a swamp donkey at end of our street and she put an old king sized mattress outside..complete with stainage..and they ran off with it..

Yeah it's a bit confusing, there's two bearings at the back of the drum and sometimes called 'front and rear' bearings or 'inner and outer'.

All seems academic to me now as I think I've just found out my drum/tub is welded and therefore cannot be opened to assess the bearings. You can buy a new drum for £200.00 though :frown: I think they can FO on that one.
Ya, a bit like the one I dismantled to bits and then realised it was impossible to replace the bearing. At that price they can F.O. and here - here to that. I'm sure it’s designed not to be fixed and if it were the cost they charge for parts would not be justifiable.

Indeed, for a laugh* I just totaled up the entire list of replaceable spares currently listed for our machine and which comes to an eye-watering £1,997.00
