Water in boot??? (406 Executive model - saloon)

Post by RB406 »

Hope you can help people!

I have an old 1999/2000 Peugeot 406 Executive (saloon) which is letting water into the boot, but no idea where. It's made all the inner carpet/board thingy mouldy and left a deep pool of water in the spare wheel well.

I have removed everything and tested it with a hose but no signs of any water getting in, except one time when it dripped/poured in from one small spot above in the boot lid...but the time before that and the next time, nothing dripped through at all!? Pulled back the lid lining and no hole or anything obvious there that would cause it. Rubber boot seal also seems fine. Took it to garage today and told them all that. They also can find nothing wrong or see any water getting in... and also took out the lights and checked there, but all seemed fine apparently. (Although the outside plastic light area has a big crack/hole.)

Arghhhh - my boot is unusable and I need it back... any ideas or experience of this please? :frown: :? :( Thanks in advance for your time. :)

I know the seals around the light fittings have been known to cause this, but that usually shows up when you point a hose at them...

There is a thread in the Knowledge base;
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=13526 - and also viewtopic.php?f=10&t=12839 - along with viewtopic.php?f=10&t=14019

Although these are from a D8, I should imagine the D9 could suffer the same ( if you have some time, check the blue connector for the CD multichanger as if this gets wet then electrical fun* will ensue.. )

If it's got rear screen wash check the tube hasn't come off or has any splits
If it doesn't fit you need a bigger hammer
