electric seats

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Wiring memory seats is on here a few times but maybe not manual electrics because it's a piece of pi... sorry, cake.

I guess we should start off with what you have there - manual or memory seats? (huge multiplugs under the driver's seat) and can you find any wiring in your car? Chances are pretty good that you can.

sorry I should have elaborated its not my car but a friends, he's bought some electric seats to put into his car to replace the manual ones, he cannot find any plugs/sockets to plug them into and wants to find out if he can wire them in, not bothered about memory just the extra adjustment you get, I will have a look at the car myself on Thursday and see what exactly is under the carpets.
thanks for replying.

Hi, on my friends LX there was only the airbag connectors, not the yellow power lead even when I trimmed the loom back a bit.

If you can find the yellow connector from a scrapper you could get the power from the fag lighter - I'm no sparky but if you are handy at that sort of thing it should work....

If these are leather seats then its a bit more involved, but the cloth electric seats only need the yellow connector, and power, to each seat.

Got a look at the seats this morning, they are as shown in the picture, he's not bothered about heating or memory just movement, is it still as simple

Er, no. If it looks like the picture then it has/had a memory ecu. If you have the ecu then you can fit it but you'll also need all the wiring and switches for rear view mirrors with position sensors, otherwise it won't work. Or you'll need to wire the switches to the motors and add an earth to the back of the switches (because somehow the ecu doesn't need them)

Start reading here I guess viewtopic.php?f=28&t=19308&p=191973&hil ... pg#p191973

If you are in the scrapyard, find a drivers seat switch from a cloth seat, then you can use this. You will lose the memory seats and you will need to swap wires in the orange connector ( reverse action for some reason ) but a fairly easy job.

Thanks, my 406 has electric seats without memory or heating, when he brings the car over on Thursday I can compare the two. If I find an electric cloth seat can I take the loom and transfer it to the leather one junking all the memory and heating.

Yes, the levver drivers seat has a white connector, the cloth seats have an orange connector - an orange connector means you bypass the memory ECU but for some reason the polarity is reversed. You can swap the wires ( bottom row into top row and vice versa ) and it'll work fine.
