1997 Peugeot 406 1.9TD Rear door.
Hi everyone!
So I've had my Pug 6 years, 195,000 mainly trouble free miles, anyway, someone decided to run into the side of me the other day and I need a new rear passenger door. The door from my year is, as you can imagine, proving elusive so I was wondering if other models/years would fit? I'm not too fussed if it matches or not (I quite like the battle scars it's picked up) however, I imagine later models have electric windows so is this an issue?
Many Thanks
Sam

They're the same, they have the same part numbers, there's only the option for with or without side impact protection which I don't think will be too much of a worry. The only difference I noticed on my two is how the weather strip is held on (on the outside against the glass, the D8 just had a clip while the D9 has a pop rivet). If you get one from a D9 you'll have to transfer the handle bracket over but they're only held on by pop rivets.

Ok, thanks for that.
Will this do the job then?

I'm assuming it will only be the panel and I'll have to put the interior bits from my current door.
Many thanks

OK, and this is me being thick, if I get a door with electric windows then that window will never open?
Again, thanks

Hi, the wind-up window mech looks like this...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-406-M ... hTglxWblmg
The electric window mech looks like this;
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-406-1 ... SwcF9UU2It
It looks the same apart from the motor - as far as I can see even the bolt locations are the same so you may be able to remove the electric window motor and replace with your manual winder.
If you are local to me, and you want an estate rear door I can supply you with one

Aah, right, so it's not that different.
Will an estate rear door fit? Is it that colour?

You'd have to cut off the bit that goes around the window and swap them over, that's what's different.
There are no separate part numbers for with or without electric windows, just the crash bar, so the mechanism will swap across.

Do I have to cut the bit round the window for aesthetics or because it won't fit otherwise. If you hadn't already guessed I know nothing about this sort of stuff!
Thanks

That seems to be just the handle
Mate, the estate door has a different shape window frame, even though the body of the door is the same you don't want one as it would be a lot of work. Go for any 406 saloon passenger side rear door as they're all the same, you might have to move some of the furniture about but it won't require any special tools, maybe the pop rivet gun but they sell them in supermarkets here.

Re: 1997 Peugeot 406 1.9TD Rear door.
I have just spent time today replacing my rear door from a donor car and I can confirm that the electric windows and manual windows are interchangeable. My replacement door had manual windows so I need to remove the internals, and the wiring loom and change it across.
Try to get a D8 door though, for convenients sake.
