Tuning a D8 1.9DT

Post by mav347 »

Can anyone help me on this one :?: :

I've got the bottom end engine, 1.9DT 92BHP, and have noticed that most diesel tuning companies only ever sell components for the HDI engines  . Does anyone know of any companies that can tune my engine, or sell parts to tune it my self. I've got about 300 quid to do it with
Thanks guys.

http://www.dervdoctor.co.uk/ is your friend. He'll tune anything that's diesel, including trucks and tractors! Give him a call... I think to tune your mechanically controlled injection engine will be around £120.

its a nightmare to tune the 406 1.9 as it has a very nasty immobiliser shield for the stop solenoid, which also covers the maximum fuel adjusment screw, the pump needs to be removed and the shield drilled out before tuning can be done, so its very expensive

jameslxdt: Thanks for the advice, but im gonna pay a spanner monkey to do all the hard work for me
Damn clamping companies. 95 quid to take a lump of steel of a wheel.

I could do it myself, with an angle grinder lol

Be aware!! You may not be able to tune this engine. The later 1.9TD had a semi-electronic injection, I can't think of anyone who can tune these, I tried a couple of years ago before I got a HDi version without any luck. If its a mechanical version then there won't be any problem. How old is your car?

Hmm as far as I am aware there's only one version of the 1.9l engine but I may be wrong. The 2.1l has semi electronic injection but that can definitely be tuned as I had mine done two years ago.

The 2.1 had full electronic control via epic CPU, the early 1.9 may of had mechanic injection like 405, but later ones (like the '98 model that I had) did have semi electronic control.

If it's one of the semi-electronic type the boost is cpu controled, I'm uncertain about the fueling, but it is at the very least monitored by the cpu. Gav the Diesel Doctor said that he had never seen a system like mine before and he's tuned 1000's of 306's using the 1.9td engine, so maybe the semi-electronis type was only fitted to the 406's
