I've been thinking... I need to have my car in the garage for a day to have the cambelt done... Wonder if they'll drop off a 407 in an industrial estate? ;)

lol I was the same in the 407 I had, hadn't realised it had 6 gears until hrs had passed.

Felt funny putting it into 6th tho, seemed I was putting it into Reverse, too used to driving a 406.

Only a V6 would be a twin turbo.

I would say that the 2.2 4 cylinder 16V here would be running high boost with a large intercooler to get 170BHP

Ta for the offer Darren, I didn't look this morning, but doubt I would've had time anyway. Sounds a right monster of an engine. I guess that'll just be for the higher spec cars.

So how did it feel getting back in yours today then?

i think that engine is only in the top of the range GT model but i wonder if i could get one to fit in my 406 :?:
i dont think i would ever see myself spending 23.5 k on one tho , as nice as it was i find my 406 has a more comfy driving position , the foot rest on the 407 is the same height as the clutch pedal so u cant really stretch your left leg out , little things like that but it all adds up i suppose.
i got back into my 406 and it was like stepping into a panzer tank with all its little rattles and vibrations but i couldnt help wondering if that 407 would still be going like my 406 in 10years and 202,000 miles later :cheesy:

One of the main reasons that I have resisted going for a new car test drive....Getting back on your car, then you start thinking nd wondering how you can cripple your bank balance into getting a newer car.

You couldn;t have put it better in saying how good will the car feel after a shed load of miles and 10 years, I bet it won't be anywhere as nar as your 406 feels.

I think we can all sumarise, especially on this site......THE 406 RULES.

End of, full stop, game over.

I would never buy a newish car ever, they only seem to be made to last 5 yrs and then be scrapped.

When I sell my 406, I am looking at getting either a 10 yr old m8s Ford Scorpio 2.5TD or poss a BMW 325.

Newer cars are getting to be Dealer only repair and so much dearer to get fixed and you cant do it yourself.

Mrs Dai wants me to book a 24hr test drive of a 407 SW, but I'd rather stay out of temptation's way. I like my car, extremely low milage, very nice spec, comfortable, fast enough, reasonably economical, plus she'd be worth so little now it'd break my heart to sell her. Besides, the 407 just doesn't float my boat aesthetically.

Also SWMBO has just blown all that money on the Fucus, I'd have though the last thing she'd be doing is even mentioning the idea of me having a new car. It's just because she wants posh brand new cars on the drive me thinks, it's madness. Darn materialistic wenches :|

Welly, I've read in Top Gear a few months ago that this is the same engine as you get in 406's, but with a second turbo added. I may be wrong though...

Sorry Captain, you are correct, the 170BHP has got twin turbo's.

I didn't know about it and was confusing it with the V6.

Can we still be friends?????????????
