Anyone know how much these cost and how easy they are to change.
Thought Id make the most of the weather today, so got under the 406 to give it an oil and filter change.
Thought Id take a look and check everything else whilst I was under there.
Noticed that rubber on my lower engine mount has perished, and is all cracked and falling apart.
Looks like a job for another weekend if anyone could help me out with info.
Cheers
Lower engine mount

The last oil change I did I noticed the same thing.
The rubber contact points in the mount were torn through. Looking at the mount it looks big and the drive shaft passes through a part of it's casting.
I always thought I had a bit of excess engine movement and I reckon if the mount was replaced the car would drive a lot smoother when coming on and off the throttle.
I have never got round to enquiring about the part yet, maybe if you find out you could let us know.
I bet all 'oldish' HDi mounts are in the same state you know, it's just hard to get to see the bloody thing.

you need a press to get the bush out of the mounting, and the mounting is a nightmare to get out, as you have these bolts with offset heads holding the driveshaft in, they take and age to undo, i think the bush is £30 plus vat from the stealers, mines gone too but i got some old rad hoses cut to shape and wedged them in the gaps

will ask how difficult it is next time I call my technical helpline. Kind of feel rude asking them more things as I have been on the phone to them about 5 times over the last week, trying to find out why my saxo engine is blowing up. I have to go and pay them for some parts they ordered for me sometime soon, so ill ask them then,

The cost of the bush is good but I suspect that the labour to remove, press, and refit might come to a few £££££££'s I don't know for sure but it looked to me that you would have to drop the drive shaft out??

Hi,
I am getting the bottom engine mount replaced tomorrow, so will let you know how it works out. I basically got two parts the big (ish - size of a can of beans) rubber mount and I also wanted the smaller rubber mount that goes in a fork shaped lump of metal which also attaches to the rear mount. (I have a diagram the stealer printed off, I will post it when I find it) it turns out you have to buy the whole piece of metal, any way all the parts came to a very reasonable £20 inc VAT
Although I can see why this part goes all the time, the only improvement I can see that they have made to the large rubber mount is covering it with a thick metal coating (2mm thick)
