When it starts stuttering, I noticed that if I throw it into neutral, the ignition lights come on, and once I put it back into gear it bump starts itself back into life. Also, it tends to cut out if I bring the car to a halt. Anyone got any ideas?
Idle speed control valve, take it off and give it a clean with carb cleaner. Job's a good un!

intermittent fault

Post by dmcwe »

I been having the same problem recently. I cleaned the stepper motor befor going to work last night and it`s run Ok there and back (30 odd miles). However, when I started it this morning from cold I did notice the revs were low on tick over but as I say it run spot on. It was only whilst contemplating what the fault could be I had a sudden thought ..did I actually plug the lead back into the step/motor!!. Just checked under the bonnet..no I hadn`t, so me thinks I gonna get me a new one.
Am I the only clown here?
