Crikey, this is a 5 year old thread almost
The 03 in the plate means it was registered in the middle part of 2003 I think (I've lost track because I didn't live there since 2004). Cars in the UK are unusual for keeping the same registration for their whole lives, however many changes of ownership they have (unless someone's got money to burn), and they can therefore announce their year of registration this way.
