We could do with a bit of that here, say 30C if you can manage it.

Indeed, this weekend just gone was probably the grimmest weekend weather-wise of ever. I even watched a Film Sunday afternoon and I NEVER do that.

Weekend just gone was thoroughly ob-bleedin-noxious.

I was misguided enough to hire floor & edging sanders from that there Jewsons and set about lounge floor, before contracting food poisoning, followed by man flu.
Managed to finish the sanding, but not started the varnish.
Took the carpet / underlay to the tip yesterday morning and shivered pretty much constantly the rest of the day. :(

Went to bed at 5pm last night and dragged myself out at 6:30 this morning to return hire kit before work.

If I had any sense, I would then have gone back to bed.....

Wife and Daughter_Welly were both ill over the weekend with a mystery VirusTM

One of those weekends where they're ill and can't be arsed to do (or eat) anything and I just mooch about trying to act useful but not stray too far away.

Went up a ladder to change a floodlight lamp with a fancy new LED replacement and had to rush it because at 2 deg C my Raynauds was kicking in and my fingers turned to frozen sausages. Winter can FRO.

....noticing the incredible amount of sh*t lying around which is seemingly thrown out from car/van/lorry windows

Macdonald's packaging, drink bottles, rubbish, all sorts of sh*t just strewn about in the verges.

Either we're* getting worse or the Council's aren't clearing it up anymore (see also: Fly Tipping).

Seriously, make an effort to look for it you'll be surprised.

I never have and never will throw anything from my car, well I've never eaten/drank anything in my car so carry no waste anyway.

I've noticed it too.

In this last week I've spotted two divan beds seemingly dumped on the pavement in town and bizarrely a pink kiddies slide on the grass verge of the A6116, more or less leaning on the 'Welcome to East Northamptonshire' sign.

Someone I know* was late getting to work this morning and passed at least 5 characters in orange hi-vis suits collecting litter on the roads leading into Huntingdon
(The traffic gives you plenty of opportunity to appreciate this).

I can't claim I never threw anything out of a car window, but certainly haven't in the last 40 years or so. It's no effort to stash it the car and dump it while refueling.

There's so little pride in the UK these days, nobody gives a toss. The last time I flew into Heathrow I started to see heaps of rubbish before we'd even touched down. It's depressing.

The only garbage that accumulates in the yoyo are toll receipts, which I ball up and chuck in the back of it to chuck in the bin the next time I clean the car out.

There's not so much rubbish here, there's a bit but nobody chucks it out of car windows or anything (not that I've ever seen) and any big stuff is collected for free twice a year so fly tipping is almost non-existent. Then the Croats are quite proud of their little country, you see the red & white checkers from the shield that's on the flag everywhere, even painted on cars, and flags quite a lot too. How often do you see the Union Jack in the UK? What do you usually associate it with? Sad times.

We used to go to the Netherlands to visit friends in the '70s and the place was amazingly clean and tidy, not so now according to one of our friends there. There is a decline in standards everywhere - sign of the times.

Me and Mrs_Welly were walking through Leicester town a couple of weeks ago taking photographs of the local Architecture (for Welly_Junior) anyway as we were heading back up the main street a large Audi pulled over and rolled the passenger window down...two Asian men were up front and promptly emptied the car of anything they didn't want to travel with - all into the gutter and carried on their way. We just stood there like surprised witnesses, like we were in some other country and confused.

Steve's right the UK is depressing, under its fragile facade is a pit of horrid, needy, greedy individuals hell bent on dragging the place down to 'their' level and sod anyone else who gets in the way. To be fair living 'somewhere else' has never been more attractive.

Not fun. (I have a selection of suitable tee shirts).

Planning your next holiday or similar usually helps.

They say don't bite the hand that feeds you but taking that hand and smashing it flat with a lump hammer is acceptable. I think.

Turns out working 07:30 to 13:30 on a Saturday gets f*cking sh*t loads done  I was staggered at how much I got done without the shitting phone ringing and stupid twatting emails pouring in demanding my attention.

Got me thinking that if we all just did our jobs and stopped getting dragged into other peoples sh*t we might not have to do so many hours
