Just lowered

Just fitted new springs and shocks front and rear everything is on fine and the handling seems alot sharper now without so much wobble

I need to know now what do I need to get checked in terms of tracking alignment etc and prices

also approx how much to get my alloys re-balanced I think one of the back one is out.

After changing the springs I would advice getting the tracking done and as for wheel balancing I think most places charge about £5 a wheel

Hi, looking at doing my springs also. How much were they, and where did you get them from?

How much did they lower your car by, how easy are they to fit yourselve and which make are they?

Right in order:

1. £104
2. POTN online
3. 55mm don't know if it is as I have aftermarket alloys so its still a normal hight from the deck. It has reduced the gap between wheel arch and tyre which looks better.

4. Pretty straightforward to do yourself if you follow Haynes manual(other people on here can give you a better idea of the job)

5. Spax

they do 40mm drop aswell if your just after perfromance rather than looks but obviously there many makes out there!

oh and before anyone says yes I uprated my shocks to some Bilstein.

Apex 35mm / 40mm lowering springs..... high quality and perfect for the 406...

If you go any lower than 40mm u will need shorter bodied dampers to prevent excessive wear and bottoming out etc..

Would lowering look OK with standard Executive / GTX alloys or would a new set of alloys be in order?

I will get pics up as soon as I can, very busy with exams atm.

It really depends what your after, in my case I wanted to go for looks rather than handling..I don't drive big distances, I just want the car to look 'different'
But it has definately improved handling much nicer through the corners.

The wheels now fill the arches (think BMW sort of thing) as apposed to the tractor sytle I had before.

I'm sure it would look fine even with standard wheels. But as I said I will get some pics up soon for your viewing pleasure or displeasure depending on your views

I ran my car for a few months with standard GTX bespoke alloys and 40mm drop springs it looked fine but the 18's set it off perfectly
