I have just bought a 2002 2.0 HDi GLX. Unlike my previous D8 2.0 there doesn't appear to be a rotary dimmer switch for the instrument panel. If I am being a muppet here, I apologise but have only had it a few days and might be missing the obvious. I can see a blanking cover next to the headlight height adjuster control and this where the dimmer lived on the D8.
Does it not exist then? or is it an optional extra! Might the wiring for it be lurking behind the blanking plate, I wonder. If so, maybe I could just rob the dimmer switch from the old car!
Many thanks to anyone who may be able to shed light on this (sorry, no pun intended !)
Morning, - its the + or - button on the cluster to brighten the dash, it goes through stages as you press and goes back to dim when the cycle repeats....
The blanking cover is for Cruise control on early cars, ESP ( traction control ) on later cars.
Nice car, by the way.

Ahhh - ha! In my idle curiosity, when I was looking over all the buttons and bobs, I wondered what the little +/- button was for on the instrument panel! Thanks, GingerMagic, makes sense now. See it also dims the brightness of the mfd and climate displays too. Nice! I really ought to RTFM.... and soon
I apologies if I've already mentioned this already.

No, you hadn't mentioned it before so certainly no apology necessary! On the contrary, am grateful for the link - v. Useful!
Am sure there may be a posting here somewhere, so forgive the laziness but, whilst the subject has been mentioned, just how does one go about obtaining access to Servicebox i.e. Is it possible to register for an account ??
