I read the very useful post elsewhere regarding the list of known compatible parts that can be swapped between the D8 and D9 models. There is mention that all the lower dash panels are compatible i.e. the glovebox and fuseboard panel down by the drivers right knee. On my D8, the panel has the little 'coin drawer' which I habitually used for parking change. On the D9 I have just bought this, like so many little features on the D8, seemed to have been done away with. Sounds daft I am sure but, being a creature of habit, I wondered if these two are indeed interchangeable?
Does anyone know if this may be possible to this??
Swap the fuse board panel on D8 to a D9?

Answer is - no. They are not interchangeable. Both have three, quarter-turn fixings but they are in completely different positions, sadly.
Right, that's that one off the list also....

I got halfway through typing a complex explanation of electrical system differences, before I realised it was the bit of trim we were talking about.

2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I was going to type something like "only on planet Banana" but then I read the post
Is there not a row of coin slots in the centre console?
Going from '98 D8 to an '04 D9 I did notice a few things Pug cheaped out on, but I suspect they coin tray was actually fitted to fill in the hole that was also for the keypad on other cars (maybe, the memory fades
) which was deemed unnecessary/a good way of saving some cash when D9's came about, so there's no provision in the newer panel for anything at all.

No - just the two holes for drinks holders, sadly. Even the little pen slot - which I found handy - disappeared on the D9 centre consolesteve_earwig wrote: Is there not a row of coin slots in the centre console?
Looking inside the panel I discovered this though...steve_earwig wrote:Going from '98 D8 to an '04 D9 I did notice a few things Pug cheaped out on, but I suspect they coin tray was actually fitted to fill in the hole that was also for the keypad on other cars (maybe, the memory fades ) which was deemed unnecessary/a good way of saving some cash when D9's came about, so there's no provision in the newer panel for anything at all.

There is a collection of lumps of moulded styrofoam which seem to serve no obvious, functional purpose. The one on the right seems to echo the shape of the space the early immobiliser keypad would have occupied.
Am now contemplating maybe creating a customised hinged coin drawer of my own!

In case it may be of any interest or value to anyone in the future, here are a couple of pics showing why the D8 and D9 panels were not able to be interchanged.
This is the D8 with the hinged coin drawer and
This is the D9 panel
You will see the different fixing positions which made them incompatible for swapping ( well not without a bit of creative restructuring, that is!
