2.2 hdi crank timing hole?
Anyone any ideas where the timing hole is for the crankshaft / flywheel?? I must be being thick as I can't see it..I'm guessing it should be behind the starter motor as per dw10 engines??..

Re: 2.2 hdi crank timing hole?
Matt,
Are you not a member of the coupe club?
Anyway the crank locking pin location is different on a 2.2hdi. It's next to the offside driveshaft at the diff end.
You 'can' lock it with a straight 8mm pin but one bent at 90° will make life easier due to the position of the access hole.
The method is remove the cam cover put the crankshaft bolt back in and rotate the engine clock wise only until the
camshaft locking hole almost line's up with the corresponding hole in the head (about 4 o'clock) .
Now you could do with an assistant , whist placing the 90° pin in the crankshaft locking hole (near the diff)
get the assistant to carry on rotating the crankshaft clockwise ( v . slowly) until the crankshaft locking pin hole
comes round & you can push it in (put pressure on the pin whilst rotating, so it drops in as the hole comes round)
If you miss it Don't go back but rotate the engine by 2 full turns & start again.
Hope this helps DDD.
