Hi, welcome aboard
Many of us here have had 2.2hdi and are well aware of the potential issues that come with buying a second hand one...
Let us know what problems you have and we can try to help you sort them.
TPS can be removed, split in half and filled with WD-40 or contact cleaner - normally helps quite a bit.

Hi & welcome aboard.
I've run two 2.2 HDi's for almost 10 years now between them and dread the day when I'll have to put up with something else.
As GM says, between us we will have come across most snags and found ways round them, feel free to pick our brains.

Hi doggy I've been doing my research not worth asking questions that have been answered already though some seem a bit vague to me so may need to ask a few.
All my error codes seem quite easy too sort their additive tank. Post heater relay, that clicks so more likely glow plugs if I can find them i'll put a meter on them see if I got a duff one and a cat temp sensor hopefully a grotty connector. I do have some other electrical issues but wanna get engine sorted first.

Re: New member in south wales
I had a blocked restrictor a while back - it was a P0238 code, I only found the issue after I spent my hard* earned money on a hand held vacuum pump - £15 well spent.
There are a few tweaks that the 2.2hdi will benefit from, mostly to allow it to breathe better and have less to go wrong.
Don't worry about the glow plug relay fault, it's very common and shouldn't affect starting or running.
Keep at it

Yeah It starts and runs fine seems a bit down lower in the rev range but when it comes on boost it shifts my intercooler pipe arrived today that helped alot still sounds like i've boost leak somewhere maybe my imagination though and i've still got to replace the flap actuater gizmo on the side of the engine.

+1 It'll start without glowplugs in the dead of winter. They only really give you smoother idling for the first half minute.
Vacuum leaks are the main bugbear. Most people simplify the vacuum system as far as possible, (mine now only uses 1 of the original 5 solenoid valves).
Masses of relevant info on here. You could save yourself time and money researching it first to avoid replacing anything you later decide you don't need.
Don't hesitate to ask

Re: New member in south wales
Will removing all the extra bits cause issues with the new mot standards or are we fine because off cars age?

Re: New member in south wales
I'm 95% sure it only counts for cars which are Euro5 standard - which is 2008 or newer. I think the new rules say that any smoke is a failure despite the cars age, but a tampered with FAP is also a failure on Euro5 spec cars.
Blanking the EGR will make a big difference to the smoke from the exhaust, it's something I recommend.
Removing the FAP will give more power, better economy and much less to go wrong - however it's a grey area in regards to it's environmentally friendliness.

That's cool, I understand that.
My EGR was completely standard except thin blanks at the ends - very descrete and very effective.
Have a chat with the MOT guy, most are pretty clued up and will say what is allowed and what isn't, which will guide you how best to improve your car.
In the meantime, enjoy tinkering

Re: New member in south wales
I see there is now a report on the coupe club of a fixed 2.2 passing the new MOT.
TPS: my 406 ate them. Found that after a while they'd feel gritty when twisting by hand. Cleaning out the old grease and putting in some new fixed them. Note that taking up too much slack out of the cable causes faults.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

My tps seems to have fixed itself i'll drag the codes off in a bit and put a post in the electrical section just to check the info I found is correct.
I've just took my drivers door buttons apart to clean them hopefully drivers window will be more responsive and if i'm lucky my passenger mirror will now fold but I doubt i'm that lucky.
