...wondering where all the bluddy time's going :frown:

Surprise!
Image

I think Miloš was. Reassembled on the dining room table last night (you can tell t'wife's not here  ) and tested this morning, mostly by Miloš as I have a pathological fear of chainsaws (thanks dad :( )

I'm thinking this was the culprit
Image

The fuel line that goes from the tank to the carb, there's a split just below the gromet. The primer is on the other side (it's the sort that pulls fuel through the carb, rather than chucking fuel into the choke), there's a little diaphragm pump in the bottom of the carb that sucks fuel through this tube from the tank and I reckon it was also pulling air through the split. Hopefully that's it done, it's run ok before while I've been a-fiddling but I think this time it's fixed. Miloš was well pleased. Total cost: about the same as UK, about 4 quid (maybe it's only me the shop rips off  )

Ok, that's 15 minutes gone, what's next? Ah crap, cook lunch, go shopping. maybe I do miss t'wife :(

And this evening I shall be basking in the absolute silence of the Croatian football team's defeat at the World Corruption Final. Woo.

Seriously, all afternoon the apes have been getting louder, awful music, fireworks, air raid sirens, fire engine sirens, car horns, drunken bellowing, reaching a crescendo about 20 minutes ago, the animals have been nervously rushing about, I've had all the windows shuttered so it's pretty hot in here and suddenly...

SILENCE

I am overjoyed Croatia lost, I couldn't give a flying sock who won.

I can't even see why anyone takes it seriously any more, after all the allegations about corruption, fraud, tax fiddling and match fixing we've heard about over the past few years. It wouldn't surprise me if the winner was decided in a brothel somewhere in the middle of Europe last year, England weren't going to win it because of Brexit but Croatia stood a chance as the EU's latest slave market, you gotta keep the drones happy. Hey, I think I saw something about some strange referee decisions, I guess that's when the players forget their instructions and start playing for real.

I have a tin roof :cheesy: They started yesterday putting the battens up and today they got most of the tin up.

Yes, there's a gutter. Only on one side though, the other side is below that hazelnut and I'd have no way of clearing the leaves out of it (without getting a knife stuck in my back...)

To me, to you...

Image

As it stands
Image
Tomorrow they've got to fit the rest of the snow catchers and finish the ridge and then it's, well, done 8)

Meanwhile, I've been playing with that door.
Image

Image

There was a lot of too-ing and fro-ing with the laths to get the right width (had to make up over an inch) but I got there in the end. I also cut the top 2cm off it, as little as I could to get back to (mostly) solid wood.

Image

I also pulled the frame
Image

Milop and his misses were hear earlier (t'wife came back from GB last night and they wanted to see her before they go on their holidays tomorrow) and Miloš gave me a hand moving the frame - it really is oak! And then he had the idea of sticking it in the hole.
Image
Bleedin' 'eck, it fits! The frame's a bit rotten at the bottom but it's below the door, Miloš says anything below the bottom of the door can be chopped off anyway.

Thankyew 8) It is starting to look a hell of a lot better.

The roofers returned, they were here a whole 20 minutes and... it's done!
Image

Errr, why did they finish with half a snow deflector? Couldn't they have just... Ah well, I guess that's the way it's done.

They tell me there was more once. Quite a few years back my friend Vesna had enough snow slide off her roof to flatten her car  So yeah, snow deflectors. It actually slides off the solar panels here with enough speed to clear the terrace and leave a heap all the way along the railings.

My angle grinder's packed up :( It's actually loosing an bearing so may be repairable. This would be the cheap 'n' cheerful one I bought from the supermarket here for about 20 quid after the Bosch I'd had for about 20 years was flipped out of my hands and self-destructed on the floor when I was sanding beams in the loft. The last cheapy I bought only lasted a month before it basically exploded in my hands but I thought if it lasted long enough to finish the loft I'd have had more than my money's worth. 2 years later it's survived all sorts of abuse, all I've done is put some proper angle drive grease in the head. Is it time to buy a proper one? Nah, new bearing it is.

Please be careful with cheap power tools, if you're lucky they'll just stop working, if you're not they'll injure you.

Can you get Ryobi stuff there? everyone's going crazy for there stuff in the construction industry here.
