CP4L gets me Product Code: 434735070 Siemens VDO for £116.66 -£14 (DEC12) = £102.66
One for a 2.0 HDi is Product Code: 434735121 Siemens VDO for £83.33 before discount.
Not convinced the GSF premium is a genuine replacement, I'm having a 'live chat' with them......
10 minutes, no answer.

Re: need advoce maf sensor
Thanks for your help. Problem is many owners have reported equivalent parts just don't work properly.
I can't work out who made the first two listed above as a search of the manufacturers part no. only finds eBay listings in most european countries, the last two are made by Stark & Ridex.
From what I've seen, only Siemens or VDO are worth the risk - (if anyone knows differently, please say).
The search continues. Bizarrely ECP are now offering a bigger discount* that increases the cost to £121.09

Re: need advoce maf sensor
Ah, ok, so the quality varies... To be honest, i've never felt the need to replace my MAF sensor. Currently my 2.0 HDI is at 575 k km (360 k mi), bought it at 275 k km (172 k mi).
I have cleaned the sensor once by dismantling it and spraying it carefully with electric contact spray and leaving it to dry for half an hour on the kitchen sink.
What i found that helped in my case when the ride became a bit bumpy, is to unplug all the electrical (sensor) connectors and give them a good spray of electrical contact spray. Also the large plugs into the ECU. Then leave them to dry for about half an hour before plugging all back in. This really helped! The ride is currently really smooth and easy going. Make sure you plug all back in; i use a coloured clothes peg on each plug that i unplug for spraying.

Re: need advoce maf sensor
I've had several attempts at cleaning these without any success.
It's definitely the MAF - his car runs perfectly with mine fitted and consistently runs two distinct versions of badly with either of the two sensors he has.

Re: need advoce maf sensor
Ok, so clearly that is the problem

No, absolutely no harm. The ECU will see that there is no signal from the MAF and will switch over to running on the pressure sensor (MAP). My experience is that the engine is a tiny bit less "sharp" than when running on the MAF. I think this is because the pressure rises a little slower than the air flow: the air flow is needed to build up the pressure.johntl wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2018 5:23 pm Having read the threads on here, at first I thought it might be the EGR but you needed to use 3k revs to get any response , so I disconnected the MAF as recommended to see if any effect and I got my old performance back!!
Obviously the MAF sensor needs either cleaning or replacing, my question is IS IT OK TO RUN THE CAR WITH THE MAF SENSOR DISCONNECTED, WILL DO ANY HARM ????
There will be a fault code stored in the ECU, which can be erased with the PP2000 software.

Re: need advoce maf sensor
I haven't found that the MAF makes a tremendous amount of difference, it only seems to be effective below 2000 rpm and doesn't make an earth shattering difference there. I have changed the MAF over between both of mine and still one seems to perform better than the other which ever MAF it has. What I did find was that the vacuum pump was weak, I changed that for one off my scrap car and it did improve the turbo output - and the brakes!
If you are interested I do have the resistance measurement for a good MAF.

Re: need advoce maf sensor
jumping back to fitting blanking plate to egr valve:
have put loads of wd40 on the studs but they won't budge !!
If I snap the studs off it will mean either retapping or another manifold, not going to risk more pressure on the studs.
so going to let my guy at the garage have a go, maybe get some heat on them ???

Re: need advoce maf sensor
Yes, they can be a right pig
To be fair I did mine at the E.G.R valve when I had the head & manifold on the bench
I did this by carefully grinding down one side until it split (the nuts) then with some plus gas
they unscrewed easily. But of course my access was massively improved.
I think you'll find if the nuts are well & truly seized, that they will just unscrew from the head in one piece
The nuts & studs I mean.
I did put new studs & nuts on when re-assembly.
