Turbo on 2.0 HDI 406
Hi, I was having a chat earlier on today about turbos and getting more power out of a 90 2.0 HDI and I have been told to turn up the boost as it is mechanically controlled I was just wondering how I would do this ,Pugster

Err, was this some bloke down the pub? All the HDi's are electronic, there's nothing you can get to to fiddle with. I suspect they were thinking about a TD...

You can get a remap or one of those cheap booster boxes but I'm not a fan of increasing the boost pressure - by much anyway, if you use a lot of extra power you are likely to blow the head gasket.

A remap is the way to go...
It's the most cost effective option, but I believe if you use injectors from a 110hdi then you'll gain a little more..
You can't increase the turbo boost by any other means, as although it's moved mechanically, it's still controlled by the ECU, a remap could increase the boost.

The way I understood remaps on dizzlers was that a lot of the power increase comes from extra fuel injected and then a little more boostage.
Mearly upping the boost on its own won't work without the extra fuel to match it.

The HDi90 does indeed have an adjustable mechanical wastegate much like the 1.9TD or 2.1TD.
However, you won't make any more power without any extra fuel. By all means up the boost by a few PSI but the engine management system will need to be retuned to add extra fuel before any power is made.
Unfortunately this is where things get a bit difficult as the 90bhp HDi models have a Siemens ECU which has to be opened up to be flashed leading to a somewhat expensive remap.
