Turbo dismount

Is there easy way to dismount turbo of HDI 2.2? Two mechanics told me that it is too hard on that model. Maybe there is a trick which is not obvious.

Personally I never had to touch either of mine in 7 years and 200k miles
I also don't remember anyone else having to.

Mine is a HDI 2.0, currently at 680.000 kms (425000 miles) and never had to replace the turbo. I don't have experience with a HDI 2.2 .

It seems the geometry of my turbocharger is not moving and for that reason I have to dismount it. But I am afraid that the problem can be different and such complex operation can be waste of time (money).

Have you eliminated the possibility of an external problem, (vacuum leak etc.) preventing the turbo from adjusting?

Agreed - generally the turbos are very durable.

If you follow the vacuum hose from the turbo to the solenoid, you can pop it off the solenoid and suck on the pipe.
Use your tongue over the end to hold the vacuum, and listen out when you take your tongue off - you should hear a 'ping' noise

If no ping then maybe the turbo is gummed up from the EGR valve putting soot back into it. There is a trick of filling the turbo with Mr Muscle or similar ( via the EGR ) to dissolve the sticky gunk in the turbo.

I did mine about 4 years ago. Took me about 3hrs from memory to get it out. Real fiddly faff of a job from memory. I did it as my variable vane system was jammed up with carbon. Cleaned it up and put it back... an even bigger fiddly faff from memory....

I definitely undid the lower mount so I could swing the lower part of the motor forward and used a block and tackle system to remove the upper driver's side mount and support the engine, which allowed me to move the top part of the engine forward to give me more room to get to some of the turbo/manifold bolts from the top. Exactly how I achieved it is very foggy in my senile brain, but took me less than a day to remove, clean and replace.

From older diagnostic I know that electrovalve 1628.HC probably is in bad condition. Don't know what exactly is its role and whether there is only one 1628.HC or they are two. At that time the problem was check engine lamp above 3500rpm. (I have not replaced 1628.HC yet.)

The electrovalves are interchangeable, so you can swap the pipes/connector with the one next to it and see if it the problem persists.
If it does then it may be a split vacuum pipe somewhere in the system...

I think there are at least 2 types of valves - 1628.HC and 1628.CH. Don't know what is the difference but the price was different.

Is there scheme from ServiceBox or other source with OEM codes for the 3 valves?
