remote locking

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

The key programming sequence only works to programme keys where the batteries have gone flat for example, and it no longer works.

I am sure the keys have to be programmed at the main stealer.

do you reckon it might work if i got the plip from the breakers to match the reciever, as i did notice just now that my original key and reciever had matching numbers

I'm not quite sure how it works to be honest. I would think not as I am sure the code isn't stored in there but it's stored in the ECU.

May be completely wrong though. James is who you need to speak to.

on a D8 the remotes came programmed from the factory, so there is no way to get a remote from another 406 to work, unless you get the central locking ecu from that car as well, but then the transponder in the key wont match and the keyblade will be wrong, you can transfer the transponder but not the keyblade, so its a pointless excercise, and a new key from the stealers, ready programmed is about £118 +vat
