odd noise from dash?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

More details please?

Is it a mechanical buzz, electrical buzz, any vibrations, like a bee, like a fly, like a missed gearchange, how long does it last, high pitched, low pitched, etc?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Hehehehe....

My car makes *loads* of weird electrical buzzes. When I turn the ignition on the area near the drivers door mirror starts an electrical shreeking high pitch, the accelerator pedal makes an electrical high pitch pulsing sound, the Climate does a *buzz-buzz-buzz* near the windscreen when it is adjusting the temperature setting.

When I say high pitch noises they are at low-volume but I can here them.

The most obvious one is the fuel pump which is quite high when cold (when the fuel is being sent through the pre-heater via the filter through a diverter valve)

I call it ''exciting'' you know- where your not sure if the car will make it through the day.

Would it happen to be from the passenger side?

If so check out here: viewtopic.php?t=1734&highlight=air+vent

You say it did it on a night. It may be like mine. When the lights are switched on there is a electrical buzzing sound, it sounds as tho it comes from the speakers. Goes away when i switch the lights off.

if you take the headlights out there will be a wire that comes from the plug that would go on the bulb, it will bolt on to the body near the headlight, and will either be black or green and yellow

Cabin temperature/airflow adjuster I recon - Mine does it sometimes too! Bl00dy hard to tell where it comes from but it always seems to relate to when you start the car (i.e if the temp was set on cold and the climate control is set to Auto it self adjusts etc..)

Just a guess 8)
